Big Bass Bonanza 1000
The fisherman is back with the biggest ceiling the series has ever carried. Same ten paylines, same Money Symbols, same Fisherman Wild doing the collecting — but the fish now run to 1,000x your stake and the round can climb to a 20,000x payout. This is our independent UK guide: the real numbers, how the bonus actually behaves, and the licensed casinos worth opening it at.

The slot
What actually changed in the 1000 edition
Strip the branding away and Big Bass Bonanza 1000 is the same machine that has been running since 2020: five reels, three rows, ten fixed paylines paying from the left. Royals fill the grid between the good stuff, the Big Bass Scatter opens the Free Spins, and the Fisherman Wild sweeps up whatever Money Symbols are on screen when he lands. If you have played any title in the series, your hands already know what to do.
What Pragmatic Play changed is the ceiling. In the original, a Money Symbol topped out at 100x and the whole game capped at 2,100x. Here a single fish can carry 1,000x your stake, and the round as a whole can reach 20,000x. That one number reshapes everything downstream: the base game pays less often, the dry stretches run longer, and the entire session hangs on whether the bonus arrives and how far up the multiplier ladder you climb once it does.
The visual language is unchanged and that is deliberate. Sunset above the waterline, cold green water below it, bubbles drifting up between the reels, the cheerful bearded fisherman waiting off to one side. It is comfortable rather than inventive — the series has never tried to reinvent its own look, and this release does not either.

What works
- Money Symbols reach 1,000x — ten times what the original Bonanza allowed
- A 20,000x ceiling, the second highest in the whole Big Bass catalogue
- RTP 96.51% on the top build, above the UK slot average
- Free Spins run on the mechanic the series is known for — nothing to relearn
- Ante Bet gives you a lever if you want the bonus to arrive sooner
What to watch
- Very high volatility — long stretches with nothing happening are normal
- The base game is a funnel, not a place to grind out profit
- Bonus Buy is switched off at UKGC-licensed casinos

Bonus mechanics
Free Spins, the Wild collect and the 10x ladder
Big Bass Bonanza 1000 is a bonus game with a base game attached. Everything below only happens once the Scatters land.
How the round works
Three, four or five Big Bass Scatters award 10, 15 or 20 free spins. From that moment the Fisherman Wild starts appearing on every reel — he does not exist in the base game at all. Money Symbols keep landing with printed cash values, and they sit there doing nothing until a Fisherman appears. When he does, he collects every Money Symbol visible on the grid at once.
The Wilds are also counted. Every fourth one retriggers the round: ten more free spins, and the collection multiplier steps up. First retrigger doubles collections, the second triples them, the third multiplies everything by ten for the rest of the round. Three retriggers is the maximum, so 10x is the ceiling — and reaching it is exactly what separates a £40 bonus from a session you remember.
This is why a 1,000x fish matters so much. Collected at Level 4, that single symbol is worth 10,000x your stake on its own — halfway to the game’s 20,000x cap from one fish.

The multiplier ladder
- 1xStart
- 2xLevel 2
- 3xLevel 3
- 10xLevel 4
Ante Bet — 1.5x stake
Raises your stake by half and pushes more Scatters onto the reels. The RTP does not change; the bonus simply arrives sooner on average. Only worth it if the higher stake still buys you a full session.
Bonus Buy — not for UK players
Elsewhere you can buy the round for 100x stake or the Super version for 450x stake. UK Gambling Commission rules block feature buys, so at a UKGC-licensed casino those two buttons are simply absent.
The hook
Land two Scatters and the game will occasionally throw a hook across the reels to pull a third one in. It is cosmetic drama over a coin flip that has already been decided — but it is the best two seconds in the game.
The maths
What very high volatility costs you
A hit rate of 13.19% means roughly one spin in eight returns something — and “something” is often less than you staked. That is the trade. Pragmatic Play moved money out of the base game and stacked it into the Free Spins, which is the only way to fund a 20,000x ceiling without breaking the RTP.
The number that should shape your session is the bonus frequency: 1 in 116 spins. That is an average, not a schedule. Plan for at least 200 spins before you judge anything, and pick a stake your balance survives for all 200 without you reaching for the plus button.
Sessions where the Scatters never show up are not bad luck, they are the expected case. That is the price of admission for a game where one fish can be worth a thousand times your bet.

Strategy
You cannot beat the maths — you can survive them
No betting pattern changes the RTP of a slot. What you can control is how long your money lasts, which decides whether the bonus gets a chance to happen at all.
- 1
Divide, then commit
Take your session budget and divide by 200. That is your stake. £40 becomes 20p a spin — not glamorous, but it buys you a real shot at the bonus arriving.
- 2
Verify the RTP first
The same slot ships at 96.51%, 95.51% and 94.51%. Two percentage points is a lot of money over a year. It takes four seconds to check the info panel.
- 3
Treat Ante Bet as one decision
Turning it on raises your stake by half. Only do it if the higher stake still leaves you 200 spins. Switching it on and off mid-session achieves nothing.
- 4
Let the bonus finish
Do not close the tab or cash out mid-round. The retriggers are where the multiplier ladder lives, and the ladder is where the money is.
Seven mistakes to avoid
- 01
Staking too high — the bankroll dies before the bonus ever gets a chance to land.
- 02
Staking so low that a good bonus still pays less than the session cost you.
- 03
Raising the stake after a losing run. The maths do not know or care what just happened.
- 04
Quitting at 60 spins and calling the game tight. At 1 in 116, 60 spins is nothing.
- 05
Playing the 94.51% build because it was the first result in the lobby search.
- 06
Chasing the 20,000x figure. It is a mathematical ceiling, not an outcome to plan around.
- 07
Judging the game by the base reels. It was never designed to pay there.

Verdict: Splash 1000 has the bigger ceiling, but Bonanza 1000 gets there on the cleanest version of the mechanic — no modifier menu to learn, just Scatters, Wilds and a ladder. If you want the series at its most concentrated, this is the one.
Demo vs real money
The demo runs the same maths — only the balance changes
Pragmatic Play demos are not a lighter version of the game. The reels, the RTP, the Money Symbol distribution and the ladder are identical. Use the demo to learn the rhythm of the bonus before you put money behind it.

The ladder is the whole game
Played the original for years and thought the 1000 would just be the same thing with a bigger number bolted on. It is not. Once you understand that everything hinges on getting to the fourth Wild, the round plays completely differently — you stop watching the money symbols and start counting fishermen. Best bonus so far paid 340x at 40p.
Patience required, but it delivers
Took me nearly 200 spins to see Free Spins the first time and I nearly gave up. Glad I did not. The round that finally landed ran to three retriggers and paid more than the previous four sessions combined.
Runs beautifully on an old phone
My handset is four years old and it still holds a steady frame rate in portrait. No stutter when six money symbols land at once, which is more than I can say for some newer slots.
Check the RTP, seriously
Was playing this at a site running the 94.51% build for weeks without realising. Moved to one of the casinos listed here, checked the info panel, 96.51%. The difference in how often the bonus turns up over a few hundred spins is not subtle.
The 1,000x fish is real
Landed one at 20p a spin during a level three round. Watched the fisherman swim across, collect it at 3x, and the balance jumped by £600 in one animation. Have not stopped thinking about it since.
Ante Bet earns its keep
If your bankroll can carry it, the Ante is worth switching on. Scatters show up noticeably more often and I would rather pay for more bonus rounds than sit through longer dry runs at a lower stake.
Honest about what it is
The base game will not entertain you and it is not trying to. Everything is built around the Free Spins and once you accept that, the pacing makes sense. Set a budget, spin at a stake you can sustain, and let it come to you.
FAQ
Questions we get most often
What is the RTP of Big Bass Bonanza 1000?
96.51% on the top build. Pragmatic Play also ships 95.51% and 94.51% versions, and it is entirely up to the casino which one it runs. Open the game’s information panel before your first spin and read the figure yourself — it takes four seconds and it is the single most valuable check you can make.
What is the maximum win?
20,000x your stake, and the round ends the moment it is reached. At 10p that is £2,000; at £1 it is £20,000. The odds of getting there are roughly 1 in 6.3 million spins, so treat it as the ceiling the maths allows rather than something to aim at.
Why is it called 1000?
Because the top Money Symbol carries 1,000x your stake. In the original Big Bass Bonanza the same symbol maxed out at 100x. Collected while the multiplier ladder sits at Level 4, that one fish becomes 10,000x on its own.
How often do Free Spins trigger?
Roughly 1 in 116 spins on the standard bet. That is an average across millions of spins, not a countdown — you can hit two rounds in twenty spins or none in four hundred. Plan a session of at least 200 spins to give it a fair chance.
Can I buy the bonus in the UK?
No. The Buy Free Spins (100x) and Buy Super Free Spins (450x) options exist in the game, but UK Gambling Commission rules prohibit feature buys, so both buttons are removed at any UKGC-licensed casino. The Ante Bet remains available and is the only lever UK players have on trigger frequency.
What does the Ante Bet actually do?
It raises your stake by half and increases Scatter density on the reels, so Free Spins arrive more often. The RTP does not improve — you are paying for frequency, not for value. Only switch it on if the higher stake still leaves you a full 200-spin session.
Is the demo the same game?
Yes. Same 96.51% maths, same Money Symbol values, same ladder. The only differences are the virtual balance and the fact that demos are served without a jurisdiction, so you will see the Buy Feature buttons that UK real-money play does not offer.
Does it play properly on a phone?
It does. The game is built in HTML5, runs in portrait, and has full feature parity with desktop — no cut-down mobile build exists. Our App page covers installing a casino to your home screen on iPhone and Android.
Which casino should I pick?
All three above run the 96.51% build and hold current UKGC licences. WinWinTer pays out fastest, SpinfiN has the deepest game library and the loyalty programme, SPINBOSS is the one with a proper native app. Pick on the thing you care about — the slot itself is identical at all three.
Is this site a casino?
No. We publish information about the game and where to play it. We do not take bets, hold funds or run accounts. Every casino we feature is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, and if a page ever tells you otherwise, it is not us.
